The Global Water Initiative works to improve water management policies, research, investment and knowledge resources for sustainable agricultural production and improved food security. GWI advocates globally and support specific action research in Central AmericaEast Africa and West Africa. They bring together complementary resources and expertise from our partner organizations including CARE, CRS, IIED and IUCN, and work in collaboration with governments and local stakeholders in the regions we work.

IUCN Global Water Programme worked with the GWI to address the declining state of the world’s fresh water supply and the lack of access to clean water for the poor. Together with Action Against Hunger—USA, CARE, Catholic Relief Services (CRS), the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), Oxfam America and SOS Sahel UK, IUCN worked on effective solutions.
